Doug Wood For VT House 2024 Facebook

Hello, I'm Doug Wood, Republican candidate for State Representative Chittenden 20 District, Colchester.

For far too long, we have sent puppet politicians to Montpelier who do nothing to make Vermont more affordable or safer for us in our cities and towns. They vote how their told to vote and have little care for the constituents who voted them in. This has to change starting this year.

I will be tackling the issues that matter the most to Vermonters.

In 2020, the VT Legislature overrode a Governors veto of the GWSA. Today, 71 percent of Vermonters oppose any carbon tax/fee/surcharge on gasoline and diesel, 59 percent strongly oppose it. So, current lawmakers, why didn't you listen to your constituents for a change. Save the taxpayers several hundred thousand dollars and forget about paying extra to study a policy nobody wants, save several million dollars by scrapping the Vermont Climate Council that doesn’t do anything, and save us hundreds of millions by abandoning any thoughts of putting a carbon tax on our motor fuels that we can’t afford. I will use the science for GWSA reform instead of severally crippling the working class Vermonters.

We need to get political agendas out of the classroom and have our teachers get back to teaching subjects that will help them move productively forward in life, not fear it. Al Gore (Democrat) started this fear mongering years ago with his 'An Inconvenient Truth' I could go on and on about the mainstream media was sucked into this narrative, read and research for yourself. Our schools need to emphasize reading, math and science.

Yes, storms seem to be getting more intense but we have had several bad weather events in recent memory before last summers washouts. Regardless, we need to build and repair roadways with the infrastructure to handle serious weather events. We should be prioritizing local projects to assist with flood mitigation and climate resiliency.

VT Act 250 is at the forefront. At the time of this publishing, the legislature just passed a compromise on the Act 250. Governor Scott is likely to veto this Act 250 reform it does not go far enough and still severely limits developers to create much needed affordable housing.

Aha, the environment. The recent Legislature is totally focused on little ole Vermont to save the WORLD at Vermonters expense. The amount of carbon emissions Vermonters generate amounts to a drop of water in Lake Champlain. We need to refocus on Vermonters first. Raising taxes on fossil fuels (Carbon taxes) to 'force' low to middle income Vermonters to pay extra taxes on gas and diesel will cripple them. Why not invest in the absolute cleanest fossil fuel ever, Natural Gas. Or...instead of taxing and taxing carbon fuels make electricity incredibly cheap (affordable). Certainly a nice guaranteed lower electric bill will have a huge affect on Vermonters switching to all electric. Almost a win win. Then.. there is the cleanest energy of all time, Nuclear energy. So,so many strides (aka regulations) have been taken in the last several years to make nuclear power plants incredibly safe and it's the cleanest, safest and cheapest energy ever!

This Democratic/Progressive Supermajority Legislature will go down as the legislature that raised taxes on Vermonters to the point of no return. How about implementing a Taxpayer Bill of Rights? Let Vermonters decide what taxes are good/bad for us. I bet the 71 percent of Vermonters oppose any carbon tax/fee/surcharge on gasoline and diesel, 59 percent strongly oppose it would not be the vote the Legislature would address.

7. Law and Order

I will vote to fund and support all Law Enforcement always. Safe communities are productive communities.

Great time with Jimmy Failla at the Spanked Puppy. He said to go ahead and call in to Fox Across America to promote my campaign. Whoa! I'll keep you posted.
